1953 Fender Tweed 2X10 Super Amp Model 5B4 (Unicorn Alert)
This is a pristine museum quality specimen of the venerable Holy Grail Amp. Power Output: approximately 25 watts. Tubes: 5U4, 6L6 (2), 6SC7 (3). Controls: Tone, Instrument Volume, Mic Volume. Dimensions: 22'' x 18'' x 10.5'. Original Victoria Luggage slip cover. Original speakers: 2-10 Jensen P10R dated 220010. Original filter and signal capacitors. It will be Fragile packed and insured. This beautiful vintage 1953 Fender Super-Amp Dual Professional 2x10 Tweed Combo Amp Model 5B4 is ALL original. No modification, replaced caps, resistors, or parts. Looking at the Tweed it is hard to believe, but it was validated by several technicians, and can be seen in the pictures. After researching this amp we are confident that the last screw was tightened down in 1953 giving this amp a'53 birthdate. A Fender rep let us know that some parts can be stamped with the serial number and sit on Fenders shop shelf for up to 6 months before being used in an amp and this is why some of the components might read as 1952. But notice the consistency of the serial number on all parts. The enclosure is 100% original with no breaks or cracks and the tube sticker on the inside is in immaculate shape. The two 10 inch Jensen Alnico 5 speakers in the amp are original and pristine as well. This amp will get loud and the speakers perform with no distortion of any kind.

The grill cover is also original to this amp and is in immaculate condition for a 1953. No rips in the grill at all.

The stain on top is NOT a burn, and was suggested that it might have occurred from sap in the wood seeping into the tweed. Handle does have a crack that does not show in the pictures, but I do not suggest using the handle to lift an amp of this heritage. Victoria cover also has some very slight discoloration on the top side that does not show up in pics as well. This is one RARE amp that still works and jams with all original internal components. The amp just plain drips with vintage tone and mojo. If you are looking for that vintage Fender tweed amp from the 50's dont pass this one up because you may never see one for sale as original as this in a LONG TIME. These amps are slowly dying off with their age and this one is a real find. Please dont hesitate to ask for more pictures or ask any questions that you may have about this amp, and please have a look at the Imgur Gallery for more images. The Super evolved from the so-called Dual Professional, "often cited as the world's first twin-speaker amplifier, " which was introduced in 1947. The Dual Professional had two slightly angled 10 Jensen speakers, and had two 6L6 tubes producing 18 watts. It was renamed the Super in the fall of 1947. These amps just plain do not come up for sale very often, and never in this condition.

This is the model that Fender designed with the newest circuit that proceeded the Dual Professional with the V Front cabinet. The 5B4 model Super was one of the 1st amps that got fitted with a new wide cabinet style in order to accomodate dual Jensen P 10R speakers. Most other Super Amps of the time were designed to carry just one 10 inch speaker inside the cabinet and therefor did not need to use the extra wide cabinets that were designed for the 5B4 and the Twin Amp.

This is a real rare piece of Fender history and it sounds like heaven. Remember a comparable Fender guitar from this year would go for 40K yet was the same cost as the amplifier.
