YAMAHA FG-55 DREADNAUGHT VINTAGE ACOUSTIC. This is a Vintage guitar indeed, not too many off them about which is a shame as they are great instruments. Its a small bodied Dreadnaught known as. 00-sized and that means a 14 1/2 lower bout.

This particular model of guitar was made between 1969 and 1974. Yamaha corporation in Japan, changed the name to Yamaha Corp Wada Factory in 1969.

The'Kaohsiung Yamaha' factory opened in 1970 in Taiwan and FG75 production switched to Taiwan in 1972. This particular guitar was'Made in Taiwan' and the number on the brace below the neck in the sound hole dates this instrument to 1974. This guitar is very nearly 50 years old there are marks on it. It made them affordable and they were often.

Their beach, campfire, or back-of-the-car guitars. Please take a Good Look at the Pictures. Solid close grained Spruce Top, Aged Rosewood sides and back with beautiful grain showing through and an Abolone Dot Inlays.

Many people quote these guitars as having mahagany sides and back.. This is completely incorrect, the saides and back are ply and the back of this one has been sanded smooth as has the back of the neck. Whether this was done as the first part of a referb we dont know, but the neck is really smooth and comfy and you don't notice the back whilst playing. I guiess it gives you options to refinish or paint or what ever you feel.

A Mahogany neck with a 25 1/2 Scale length, it has probably a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets, joined to the body at the 14th fret. The Bridge which is almost certainly Rosewood is well. Positioned to provide great tonal stability and intonation.

These are 00-sized and that means a 14 1/2 lower bout. It has a 25" scale length and a 1 11/16" nut width and sports a medium, C-shaped neck profile. It handles sort-of like a Gibson LG-2 or B-25 but the body is all-ply in construction and fan-braced rather than x-braced. It's both louder, folkier, and warmer than you'd expect but does have the sort-of sizzly or glassy high end response that you find on most ply guitars. Overall -- it's a great little guitar.

The Japanese literally stripped branded guitars down and then copied them faithfully, something that the Japanese were very good at. WE USUAL LY HAVE A STOCK OF PRACTICE AMPS IN STOCK!
