Epiphone by Gibson' Korean Sheraton Semi Acoustic Electric Guitar
Epiphone by Gibson Sheraton - Korean made, sometime in 1980s, they seem to be quite rare as it's hard to even find much information on them! But there are places on the internet where you can read up on bits. All i know is that it's an 80's Korean made Sheraton.. And that it's a beautiful guitar! Bought it a year or two ago - since it has had'Seymore Duncan' pickups installed very nice pickups! I still have the original gold plated pickups so they will be included if you wish to put the originals back in! Also comes with a lovely hard case, if interested i can send you a picture on request. As pictured, it has unfortunately had some knocks and scratches.. Feel free to come and look at it in person, i have done my best to photograph the most noticeable wear. The'Epiphone By Gibson' logo was used from about 1986 through 1988 on Samick-made Korean Sheratons (and other Epiphone models). The "By Gibson" bit was used for two reasons; 1. To differentiate them from the Japanese-made (by Matsumoku) line of Epiphones that was being made concurrently and 2. To create and exploit the Gibson connection (These were the first Epiphones to be imported by the Henry J regime who had bought Gibson the previous year). In 1988 Matsumoku filed bankruptcy (actually the Singer Sewing Machine Company that was the parent company of Matsumoku filed) and the Japanese-made line was discontinued (though in 1988 Terada/Yamano Music began its own line of Japanese Domestic Market Epiphones that were limited to Japanese distribution).
