Up for sale is a pretty darn impressive analog transistor amp by Fender..... Speaking of which, even the onboard effects loop has stereo capabilities! Especially a terrific feature if you are going from a stereo effect from your loop back into the amp! I remember when I first plugged this amp in.
As I started strumming some simple chords, I had to do a double take! I heart some really nice warm, saggy, overtone filled sound that I would have expected from a tube amp. Then I realized, hey it's a Fender... The clean sound on them is unmistakable and unparalleled!
Also makes it a great platform for your effects pedals! I found that the key with this amp on the clean channel (especially with a naturally bright strat or tele) is to dial back the treble on it to tame the ice pick highs that can assault one's ear, especially when the amp is straight on your ear. Or, what I prefer is what I found myself doing, which was also turning up the bass to keep the sound nice and warm, while still being able turn up the treble to about the same level. This allowed the amp to still be bright and sparkly, but not so unbearably harsh in the highs. Also, keep the mids pretty high (I had mine on about 7), which is great for staying present in the band mix! I then switched over to the overdrive channel and was STILL pleasantly surprised. As the sound quality, when dialed in, was very comparable to the clean channel.
I found myself playing it much longer than I expected to. Unlike a lot of the high gain distortions out there in pedals and other solid state amps, the drive on this amp is very clear, even with the gain close to maxed. Just don't max it out completely as it will start to get fizzy and tinny. The key, I found, with this channel was pretty much the opposite of the clean. It is darker, so I turn the presence all the way up, or darn near close to it!
Turn the limiter control counter-clockwise to season the amount of drive to your taste. It increases as you turn the knob to the left. You can also add your favorite overdrive or distortion to the dirty channel so you can cop your favorite artist's lead sound! I've got T-Rex Mean Machine, for the Eddie Van Halen and other 80's arena rock bands' sound, as well as a Bogner Ecstasy Blue, which is supposed to be the blue channel of the Bogner Ecstasy in a compact little package.
Plus all sorts of other nice gain pedals in my store, so check them out! Reverb is just as you would expect from Fender. You can go from subtle (make sure you keep the control set low) to all out cavernous!Perfect for expansive worship and/or shoe gazer music soundscapes or to release your inner surf legend, Dick Dale! And there are ALL types onboard....
With quite a few settings for each, so you have quite a variety of reverberation at your disposal! Do you instead prefer delay and echo effects like me? You've got several settings ranging from slap echo type delays to longer times...
Perfect for leads and/or soaring single notes! There is also an option for reverb AND delay together! Onboard stereo chorus with rate and level (depth) controls round out this versatile machine that could be the only other piece of gear you need in your rig in addition to your guitar!
Because there are TWO types of Chorus (1 and 2) as well as a Flanger setting on top of it all! These modulation effects can also be subtle, 80's lush, or all out warble-y and crazy! This amp imho rivals the legendary Roland JC 120, at a more attainable price point! Amp has also been serviced by a professional.
