Due to further downsizing I have decided to say farewell to my Hondo II "Genesis" guitar. It was built at the Samick factory between 1978 and 1980. It has a slim body with a typical LP neck angle.
Weight wise, only 7.3 lbs (3.3kgs) so very easy on the shoulder. The neck joint is fantastic and a pleasure when up the top end. The guitar is fitted with DiMarzio K10 Humbuckers (OEM version of the super distortion).
Ash body and cap, the neck is maple with a C profile (41mm nut), with a Rosewood fret board and low profile frets. I found and had a period correct vintage DiMarzio fitted and the tonal balance is full, warm and really sweet. I will also include the original with the guitar. The truss rod works fine and the action is very low (how I prefer it) and fast. The overall condition for it's nearly forty years is very good, some lacquer wear to the finish on the back of the neck and the odd mark or swirl but the finish really does ooze vintage mojo. The wear on the rear edges and next to the strap button in the photos is just wear to the lacquer finish, not a break in the wood surface at all, they are all totally smooth, just play wear I would presume.
Just noticed a small mark by the side of the truss rod cover too. For serious gigging I would consider upgrading/replacing the original tuners just for better stability. Under the current circumstances I think it's best to post the guitar, UK only thank you. I will do my best to find a suitable box for posting asap, thanks.
