Up for sale, a 1996 Gibson EC-30 Blues King Electro acoustic electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. The precursor to the J-185 EC, the Blues King Electro is a very versatile and powerful sounding Gibson acoustic.
The guitar has similar looks to a scaled down J-200, boasting a more manageable 16" lower bout, 9" waist, and full 4 5/8 body depth. Outfitted with the original Gibson AccuVoice active preamp and boasting a treble side cutaway for easier access to the higher frets, this guitar has both the good looks of a classic Gibson and a few small touches that add versatility for the modern player. With a spruce top and highly figured maple back and sides, the tone is rich and defined, with great percussive cut and top end character. The maple/spruce tonewood combo ensures great string to string clarity and resonance, and the sheer depth of the body adds warmth and bloom to single note lines and complex chord voicings. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 12-53 phosphor bronze strings, this Gibson is ready for stage and studio work, having been extremely well cared for over the past 20+ years! The maple neck has a full D profile shape with good shoulder and gentle taper, measuring. 900 deep at the 1st fret and. The rosewood fretboard is bound and inlaid with pearloid split parallelograms, and the stock lender fretwire shows moderate wear on frets 1-3, with virtually no wear further up the board. The nut measures 1 11/16 in width. The headstock boasts a pearloid Gibson script logo and a set of original gold plated Grover-style tuners that turn smoothly.
The Gibson AccuVoice preamp features push/push knobs that pop out for easy adjustment and otherwise are quite low profile. All knobs are center detent and include Volume, Voicing from Jazz to Pop! , Tone, and Notch Filter, along with mini on/off switches for the Filter, a Bright switch, and On/Off toggle. The rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the compensated saddle has height for future adjustment. A tortoise pickguard tops things off, and the original orange oval Gibson label is intact and visible through the soundhole.
The maple on the back and sides has deep dimensional curly flame figuring that turns in the light and highlights different aspects of the wood from every angle. The figuring on the arched back is consistent across the entire piece of wood, with prominent swirling grain as well. There is sparingly little cosmetic wear on the guitar, with just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the guitar as a whole. The instrument is of course crack-free, and the neck profile is flawless. The original Gibson hardshell case and factory paperwork is included.
