Heerby (Kasuga) SA-1000 semi-acoustic guitar (with brown Gator satin-flap hard case), lovely brown flame, 1979. Rarely seen top-of-the-range Heerby SA-1000 semi, 24 & 3/4 scale, 41mm nut, apparently made in the Kasuga Japan factory, 1979. (Quality on a par with that other well-known MIJ brands' SA-1000 model). String spacing at nut is 35.5mm, at bridge, 51mm; end of fingerboard width is 57mm.
A few dings and scrapes after its 40-plus years, but in excellent structural shape with no cracks, breaks or repairs. The guitar had a nice pro refret a couple of years ago (by Jonny Kinkead, Kinkade Guitars Bristol) with a new set of Gotoh tuners and new Gbsn-style control knobs. Action is nice and low with good clean resonances right up the fingerboard. Heerby were an active brand for a few years only'79 -'82?
, making high quality strat, 335, SG and Fndr bass copies for the domestic Japanese market, I think, though obviously they can be found anywhere now after the intervening 40-odd years. 41mm nut - narrower than the standard 42mm or wider 43mm size. This guitar is perhaps suitable ONLY for the smaller-handed or female player maybe - unless you're familiar with those old Epi Casino's that had a 41mm nut back in the 60's and you're completely happy with a 41mm nut size. I don't want someone returning this lovely old semi saying, Doh - I didn't realise 41mm was smaller than 42mm!
